Help Rebuild Aitaka Wild Community in Amazonian Ecuador
Dear family,
At Geoparadise, we stand in solidarity with our indigenous Kichwa friends from the Aitaka Wild Community in Napu Runa Amazonian Ecuador. You may remember Roberto, Marilin, and their children from our previous gatherings. This April, parts of Ecuador faced a severe storm, leaving devastation in its wake. The torrential rains and flooding have damaged their homes, leaving them in urgent need of support.
The Aitaka Wild Community is not just seeking to rebuild their physical homes; they are striving to restore the essence of their culture and preserve their traditional knowledge. Despite many trials they had to endure during the past couple of years, first facing immense challenges exacerbated by the pandemic, they continued to share their wisdom and heritage with the world generously. However, the recent hardships have highlighted the systemic neglect and lack of support from the Ecuadorian government and local authorities. Our indigenous brothers and sisters also lack access to essential healthcare, economic opportunities, and even clean water in times of severe weather like this.
As we were writing this text for the fundraiser, we received unsettling news about how Mama Marilin and their older daughter retrieved hemorrhagic dengue fever and are currently in hospital.
We cannot stand idly by as these resilient communities struggle to survive. Your contribution can make a meaningful difference:
Rebuilding Homes: Your donation will help repair the homes of families like Roberto and Marilin's, providing them with safe and secure shelter.
Supporting Education: With your support, we can ensure that the children of Aitaka Wild Community can continue their education, empowering them to thrive despite adversity.
Preserving Culture: Your generosity will enable the community to preserve and share their traditional knowledge, ensuring that their heritage remains vibrant for generations to come.
Providing Essential Aid: We aim to provide financial assistance so the family can rebuild the homes that got badly damaged in the storm, alleviate the immediate needs of the community and help cover medical costs for Marilin Salazar and her daughter.
Every dollar counts in our efforts to rebuild and restore hope in Aitaka Wild Community. Together, we can make a tangible impact and stand in solidarity with our indigenous brothers and sisters.
Join us in supporting the Aitaka Wild Community as they rebuild their homes and continue to be guardians of the Amazonian rainforest
Thank you for being a beacon of hope in their time of need.
With gratitude,
Geoparadise team
